The Department of Health, State Emergency Management Agency, and the National Weather Service are reminding folks about the dangers associated with excessive heat. Missourians who do not have air-conditioned homes can find a public cooling center near them by visiting www.mo.gov. Last year, 47 people in Missouri died from heat-related illnesses. Residents are urged to check on family, friends and neighbors who do not have air conditioning and who spend much of their time alone.
