Lower water levels in a cave near Ozark have allowed scientists to identify a fossil there as coming from an extinct species of shark.

The fossil comes from a spine that ran along the shark’s fin. The shark was probably about three feet long and lived around 350 million years ago.

The cave’s owner has not decided whether the spine will remain in the cave or be removed for preservation.
