Clint Robinson is finally getting his chance in the big leagues when the Royals open up interleague play Friday night at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. The 27 year old has put up the numbers in the minors to suggest he could be a solid major league hitter.
Robinson was born in Jefferson City and has worked his way up the Royals ranks after leaving Troy University. In 2010 with AA Northwest Arkansas, he won the Texas League Triple Crown with a .335 average, 29 home runs and 98 RBIs. He had big numbers last year, too, with AAA Omaha, hitting .326, 23 homers and 100 RBIs for a team that won the Pacific Coast League Championship. In 60 games with Omaha this season, Robinson hit .314 with a .418 on-base percentage, eight homers and 37 RBIs.
Robinson told KCRoyals.com, “It’s just about being patient and waiting your turn and hoping that you do get an opportunity and making the most of it, which I hope to do here now,” he said.
