Bruce Chen (5-5) allowed four hits without a walk to win for the fifth time in six starts, as he went seven shutout innings to outlast Minnesota starter Francisco Liriano for a 1-0 victory Tuesday night.

Liriano only allowed only four hits in six innings, but three of them came in the second when the Twins’ failed to turn a double play, allowing Brayan Pena to deliver an RBI single that got through the left side of the infield for the game’s only run.

Greg Holland worked around an error in the eighth for the Royals, and Jonathan Broxton left runners on first and second in the ninth for his 14th save of the season.
