Missouri State University will host Missouri Valley Conference postseason championships for volleyball and women’s golf during the 2012-13 athletic season, MVC Commissioner Doug Elgin announced Thursday (May 17).

MSU hosts the State Farm MVC Volleyball Championship, Nov. 22-24 at Hammons Student Center. The Bears have also hosted conference championships for the Gateway and MVC in 1982, 1984, 1991, 1993, 1996, 2003 and 2007, advancing to the championship match on four of those occasions with a title in 1993.

“We’re excited to have the MVC volleyball championship back in Springfield. Our fans appreciate great volleyball, and I know our league is highly-respected on the national level, so they will see a high level of play,” Missouri State Director of Athletics Kyle Moats said. “We look forward to showcasing Porto Cima, which is one of the best courses available in our state. It’s an excellent course in a beautiful area, and we greatly appreciate them extending the invitation for us to host the MVC Championships at their site.”

The Club at Porto Cima in Sunrise Beach, Mo., will serve as the championship home of the MVC, April 21-23. MSU, which won the Valley title in April, has also hosted conference women’s golf meets in 1988, 1990, 1997 and 2005

Other hosts for league championships in 2012-13 include: Bradley (men’s soccer); Creighton (softball and women’s soccer); Wichita State (men’s and women’s team tennis); Drake (men’s and women’s outdoor track & field); Illinois State (baseball, men’s and women’s cross country); UNI (men’s and women’s indoor track & field) and Southern Illinois (women’s swimming & diving; and men’s golf at Dalhousie Country Club in Cape Girardeau, Mo.).
