Bruce Chen worked 6.2 innings baffling Rangers hitters most of the night to pick up his second win of the season with a 3-1 win for the Royals in Texas Monday night.

Chen walked two and gave up five hits including a solo homer to Nelson Cruz for his only blemish, but the rest of the night he had the Rangers guessing. Cruz also struck out three times and Chen fooled Josh Hamilton a couple of times. Hamilton loss the grip on his bat twice and sent it flying into the seats. Hamilton finished the night 1 for 3.

Scott Feldman (0-1) allowed two unearned runs over 4.2 innings while making a spot start. Feldman gave up three hits, the last a two-run single by No. 9 hitter Alcides Escobar right after third baseman Adrian Beltre’s two-out throwing error in the fifth. Former Ranger Jeff Francoeur led off the fifth with a single before Chris Getz hit a two-out bouncer to third. Beltre had plenty of time, but threw the ball wide of first base.

Jonathan Broxton worked the ninth for his eighth save in nine chances for the Royals, who have won 11 of 17 since their 12-game losing streak in April.
