Cardinals starter Lance Lynn worked five scoreless innings and left the game with a 7-0 lead and the bullpen held on as the offense hit five home runs to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-6. Lynn improves to 6-0, becoming MLB’s first six game winner of the season.

Lynn is the first St. Louis pitcher to start the season with six wins since Bob Tewksbury in 1994. He struggled with his command all night and left after throwing 91 pitches in five innings.

Rafael Furcal hit his 30th leadoff home run of his career. Carlos Beltran and Matt Holliday hit consecutive homers to open the third off D-backs starter Joe Saunders and Allen Craig and David Freese homered to start the seventh after Arizona had scored six times in the sixth to cut the lead to 7-6.
