Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick made 23 saves and continued to dominate in the nets as the St. Louis Blues were swept out of the NHL playoffs following a 3-1 loss Sunday at Staple Center.

The Blues season comes to an end after a remarkable season that saw them finish with 109 points and win the Central Division for the first time in 10 years after starting the season 6-7-0 before Ken Hitchcock was hired. This was the Blues’ first trip to the Stanley Cup Playoffs in three years and first time in the second round since 2002.

Los Angeles will now await the winner of the Phoenix-Nashville series, which the Coyotes lead 3-1 and can close out Monday in Glendale, Ariz. The Kings became only the third No. 8 seed to reach the conference finals. Montreal did it two seasons ago, when injured Blues goalie Jaroslav Halak led the Canadiens. The only No. 8 seed to win a conference and play in the Cup Final was Edmonton in 2006.
