The Royals had to settle for a series split with the New York Yankees after Sunday’s 10-4 loss. Starting pitcher Luke Hochever had another rough outing lasting just 2.1 innings while giving up seven runs.

The Yankees erupted for six runs in the third inning including a grand slam from Robinson Cano that landed just in front of the fountains in right center field. Hochevar didn’t finish the inning and saw his ERA jump to 9.00. In his last two starts, Hochevar has gone 6.1 innings and has allowed 16 earned runs.
