In a freak accident last night at Kauffman Stadium, before the Royals took on the Yankees, New York’s closer Mariano Rivera suffered a torn ACL when he fell while shagging a fly ball in the outfield during batting practice.  Chasing balls in the outfield during BP is routine for Rivera who said it is a part of his exercise before a game. Rivera said his foot got caught up between the grass and warning track.
