A registered sex offender already awaiting trial on state sodomy charges is now looking at a life sentence, after a grand jury charged him with producing child pornography and one count of commiting a felony sex crime against a minor while a registered sex offender. 39-year-old William G. Weiss is scheduled to go to trial in November on the state charges. He pleaded guilty in 2003 to state sex crimes. Federal law requires a life sentence for a prior sex offender committing a federal sex crime against a child.
