Fernando Salas gave up a walk-off single to pinch hitter Chris Heisey as the Cardinals were unable to complete the sweep in Cincinnati losing to 4-3 to the Reds.

The Cardinals jumped out to a 3-0 lead over Johnny Cueto after Jaime Garcia singled and scored on Rafael Furcal’s triple. Jon Jay homered to center in the third inning, but Garcia couldn’t hold it.  Garcia gave up a run in the bottom of the inning when Joey Votto doubled in the Reds first run. Votto ended up with four hits and scored the winning run after leading off the ninth with a double off Mark Rzepczynski.  Garcia went just 4.2 innings allowing three earned runs.

Lance Berkman and David Freese had the day off with Freese pinch hitting in the ninth. The entire team has Thursday off before the home opener on Friday against the Cubs.
