St. Louis native and former Missouri State Bear basketball star Blake Ahearn is headed back to the NBA. The Utah Jazz announced Monday they will sign Ahearn to a ten-day contract.  The 27 year old Ahern played in 37 games for the Reno Bighorns this season of the NBA D-League and averaged just under 24 points, 5.1 assists, and 2.6 rebounds.  He also appeared in the D-League All-Star game and has scored in double figures in all 37 games.  Ahearn also set the NBA D-League’s all-time record for consecutive made free throws by hitting 110 in a row between December 2011 and January 2012. The record also beats the NBA mark of 97 set by Michael Williams in 1993.

Ahearn returns to the NBA having played with the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs during the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons. In 15 career NBA games Ahearn averaged 5.2 points, 1.4 assists, and 1.3 rebounds.
