A study by the Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City says Missouri is one of the best states in the country to start a business. The Foundation report ranks Missouri sixth in the country. Four years ago, Missouri was almost last. The state economic development department says more than 15,000 new businesses were started last year. The largest segment was household businesses. The next-largest category is listed as “scientific, professional and technical services.”
