The Royals picked up catcher Humberto Quintero from the Houston Astros in a trade on Tuesday. The Royals also received outfielder Jason Bourgeois in the deal that sent Minor League pitcher Kevin Chapman and a Minor League player to be named to the Astros.  “Humberto Quintero is a guy we like as a solid catch-and-throw guy and has a lot of experience at the Major League level and gives us the depth that we need at this point,” Royals general manager Dayton Moore said.

Quintero comes over a time the club is short on catching after Salvador Perez required knee surgery that will keep him out for half the season.

Former Mizzou Tiger Aaron Crow is headed back to the bullpen. With closer Joakim Soria out with an injury, manager Ned Yost announced that Crow, who had been in the running for a starting role, is headed back to the bullpen. Crow was a 2011 All-Star reliever, but will not take over the closer’s role.
