Jeff Fishers responds to the NFL's punishment of Gregg Williams
Rams head coach Jeff Fisher met with the media Wednesday afternoon saying that he and the Rams organization supported Commissioner Roger Goodell’s suspension of defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. Fisher said that he notified Williams after the league contacted the Rams. He said this was obviously a very difficult day for Williams. At the end of the season, Williams will be eligible for reinstatement, but that will be determined by the NFL.
Fishers said it was time for the Rams to move forward. He was not caught off guard by the news saying he has spoken with NFL staff members earlier this week and knew the penalties would be severe. Fisher will not name a defensive coordinator, but mentioned that it will be a full collective effort of the defensive staff.
