UMKC will travel to JQH Arena for a first round WNIT game

The Missouri State women’s basketball team will be returning to the postseason for the third consecutive year after receiving the Missouri Valley Conference’s automatic bid to the 2012 Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) late Monday evening.

To kick off the 18th postseason tournament trip in school history, the Lady Bears (22-8) will host a first round game against the University of Missouri-Kansas City (22-11) on Thursday (March 15) at JQH Arena.

This season the ‘Roos posted 22 wins, the second most in school history, trailing only the 24 by the 1991-92 squad, while registering the most road (six) and neutral court (four) wins in school history. During the season, UMKC defeated three RPI top-100 teams (Eastern Michigan, South Dakota, Central Arkansas) and advanced to the Championship game of the Summit League Tournament for only the second time in school history.
