Jackson County prosecutors are asking a judge to go to trial in the misdemeanor criminal case against Bishop Robert Finn and the Catholic diocese. Finn was indicted for failing to report suspicions of child abuse against Shawn Ratigan, a priest charged with producing child pornography. Defense lawyers say the charges against Finn should be dismissed because the bishop was not the legal “designated reporter” for the diocese.
