The Stars and Stripes Museum in Bloomfield has lost a man’s 1864 Springfield rifle musket … and Cape Girardeau resident Brad Phillips says the museum is not offering him enough money for the loss.
Phillips tells the Cape Girardeau Southeast Missourian he loaned the gun to the museum to keep it from being stolen from his home. He says it’s appraised at $4,000, double the amount the museum has offered him.
Police say there are no leads.
