Powerball players will pay a little more for a game ticket beginning January 15.

Missouri Lottery Executive Director Kay Reardon says they’ll also have a better chance to win. “Two dollar powerball is going to be a great addition to what we are able to offer the customers with the bigger jackpots, the bigger starting jackpots at $40 million, there are going to be more millionaires here in the state of Missouri and there are better odds, so it’s a home run for all the players.”

The price of a Powerball ticket has been $1 since the game was introduced in 1992.

Along with the price increase, the minimum jackpot will now be $40 million and the game will now draw from 35 balls for the Powerball, rather than 39.
