“Red listing” starting in Kansas City

Hoping for swifter prosecutions and better quality of life in some Jackson County neighborhoods, prosecutors will create a list of targets.

Looking to build better relationships and finding ways to strategically focus the efforts and budget of her office, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters- Baker is sending teams of prosecutors into crime plagued communities to identify.

She says that would be done a neighborhood order of protection be issued by a court. But she assures it will take more than finger –pointing and hear say to get a person listed as a “red target”. She says they don’t have that power, nor do they want it. She says the force will be using the court process so that everything is transparent.
