Congressmen Blaine Luektemeyer is advocating making November National Adoption Awareness month, and remind people that adopting from foster care is also an option. He says there are 10 thousand children in Missouri in foster care. But, he says when people think about adoption, they think about a newborn baby, sometimes from another country, but that’s not the only option.

He says on average, children stay in foster care for two years. He says in addition to giving a child who may have seen abuse and neglect before being moved to foster care a home, there are other advantages too.

He says this resolution makes November 19th National Adoption Day.
