Two Missourians who gave the ultimate sacrifice have made their final journey home. Two of those killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan last weekend have been flown to Delaware today.

Matt Mason

One of themĀ  is Kearney native Matt Mason, a Navy SEAL.

Another Missourian killed in the crash was the pilot of the helicopter, Chief Warrant Officer Bryan Nichols of Kansas City.Ā

Mason,Ā 37,Ā was a husband and father. He graduated from Kearney High School in 1992 where he played football and baseball.

Bryan Nichols

Nichols, also a husband and father, lived in the Waldo area of Kansas City.

The 30 American troops, including 22 Navy SEALs,Ā were killed Saturday when their helicopter was shot down in eastern Afghanistan.

Families of several of the fallen service members were being brought to Dover yesterday and today.

Despite their deaths, military officials say the U.S. will continue its fight against terrorism until victory is attained.
