I’ve said all along since this lockout started on March 11 that both sides were greedy and not stupid. The NFL is a booming business, they weren’t going to let this affect any part of the season.  Sources close to NFL talks are saying that both sides are close to wrapping up negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement and are close to a settlement.

Both sides have agreed in principle to a rookie wage system, which was the biggest hang up. Once that was cleared up, other things seemed to fall in place. Both sides have reached a tentative agreement to set the 2011 salary cap at $120 million.

The deadline was late next week to get things started, otherwise the August 7th Hall of Fame game between the Rams and Bears would have been in jeopardy.
