Loggers and landowners can both benefit from a new Missouri Department of Conservation pilot cost share incentive program. Forest Products Program Supervisor Jason Jensen says the Best Management Practices Conservation Innovation Grant will encourage landowners to implement specific tactics on their property to garner incentives. 5-dollars for landowners and 10 to 20 dollars per acre for loggers.

These erosion prevention measures associated with timber harvesting will make forest areas safer and more lucrative. Jensen says Missouri is home to 15-million acres of forest land with the timber industry topping 6-billion dollars a year for our economy. The primary concern is that forests are sustainably managed.
