Former Missouri Tiger, now Royals setup man, rookie Aaron Crow was selected by American League manager Ron Washington as an All-Star. Crow has a 1.36 ERA in 33 appearances and has 39 strikeout in 39.2 innings. He started his major league career with 15.1 scoreless innings.

Royals left fielder Alex Gordon is one of five nominees on the ballot for the final vote by fans for the last roster spot. Gordon has spent time in the minors the last two seasons, but this year is hitting .298 and has had hitting streaks of 19 and 14. He leads American League outfielders with 24 doubles and has a league high 13 defensive assists from the outfield.
