Little Gabbert going to Louisville

Former Missouri quarterback Tyler Gabbert will transfer to Louisville, as reported by the Louisville Courier-Journal. An official announcement on Gabbert’s decision should come early next week.

Gabbert transferred from Missouri in May, after learning he was listed as the No. 2 QB on Mizzou’s depth chart, behind sophomore James Franklin.

The Gabbert family has an in at Louisville. Their quarterbacks coach Shawn Watson was the offensive coordinator at Nebraska when both Gabbert brothers (Tyler and Blaine) gave verbal commits to play for the Cornhuskers. Gabbert will have to sit out the upcoming season.

KC settles discrimination suit

Kansas City is going to pay two of its former budget analysts $2.8 million to settle their discrimination suit. The two women were fired in 2009 despite excellent evaluations. They claimed race and age discrimination were behind their firings.

Evacuation plans in place for St. Joe

St. Joseph officials have put an emergency evacuation plan in place for some parts of the city.

The National Guard is patrolling the levee that protects the south side and Lake Contrary areas of St. Joseph.  City officials say they’re worried the levee eventually will give way because of anticipated pressure from high water in the next several weeks.

Monsanto incentives investigated

The Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating Monsanto’s incentives for dealers selling Roundup weed killer. Monsanto is based in Creve Coeur. Monsanto CEO Hugh Grant says the investigation focuses on incentives for the last two years.  

The company says it has ended the incentives.

Diamond’s mayor quits

The mayor of the southwest Missouri community of Diamond has quit, two months into his term. Mayor Ray Prettyman says the board of aldermen has resisted every proposal he has made for change. One alderman has told the Joplin Globe that Prettyman had some good ideas but went about presenting them in the wrong way.
