Several St. Louis ministers have criticized Congressman Todd Akin for saying “the heart of liberalism … is a hatred for God.”
Akin’s comment was made during a radio interview last Friday. A half-dozen religious leaders have called the comment “an inappropriate stereotype and a smear of his own constituents.” The letter to Akin from the group says comments such as his “degrade our nation’s political dialogue.”
Akin was not in his St. Louis office when the ministers arrived. A staff member said he was working in his district.
