The St. Louis Blues picked eight  players in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft in St. Paul, Minnesota, after not having any picks in the first round, the Blues had second round picks, the 32nd overall selection of Ty Rattie, , the 41st overall selection Dmitrij Jaskin and the 46th overall selection Joel Edmundson.

The Blues selected five additional players which included Jordan Binnington (third round, 88th overall), Yannick Veilleux (fourth round, 102nd overall), Niklas Lundstrom (fifth round, 132nd overall), Ryan Tesink (sixth round, 162nd overall) and Teemu Eronen (seventh round, 192nd overall).

The 18 year old Rattie, had 22 points (nine goals, 13 assists) in 16 games and helped Portland make it to the Western Hockey League (WHL) Championship. He’s 5’11”, 163-pounds  

The 18 year old Jaskin, played in 33 games with Slavia Praha in the Czech League this past season, recording 10 points (three goals, seven assists) along with 16 penalty minutes. The 6’1”, 196-pound forward, who is Russian born, moved to the Czech Republic when he was eight months old, and competed at the 2011 Under-18 World Championship for the Czech Republic, scoring a team-high four goals in six games.

The 17 year old Edmundson played in 71 games with the Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Hockey League (WHL) finishing with two goals, 18 assists.  The 6’4”, 191-pound defenseman won the hardest shot competition for Moose Jaw, registering at 98 mph.

Binnington was named the Most Outstanding Goaltender of the 2011 Memorial Cup, posting a 1-2 record with a tournament-best goals-against-average of 1.42 and save percentage of .951. He also posted the only shutout of the tournament with 29 saves as part of a 5-0 win over the Kootenay Ice.

Veilleux, 18, played last season with Shawinigan of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), registering 48 points (19 goals, 29 assists) along with 40 penalty minutes. The 6’2”, 190-pound forward was ranked 130th among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting.

Lundstrom, 18, a 6’2”, 187-pound goaltender, played last season with Aik Jr., in the Swedish Junior League. He appeared in 22 games, posting one shutout, 3.05 goals against average and .890 save percentage.

Tesink, 18, a 5’11”, 157-pound forward, played last season with Saint John of the QMJHL and helped the team capture the Memorial Cup. He led all Saint John rookies in scoring with 35 points (eight goals, 27 assists) in 59 games helping the Sea Dogs tie a league record for most wins in a season with 58 and go undefeated at home in regulation (32-0-1-1).

Eronen, 20, a 5’11”, 180-pound defenseman and native of Vantaa, Finland played last season with Jokerit in the Finish Elite League. He recorded 13 points (two goals, 11 assists) along with 24 penalty minutes in 48 games played.
