The Royals lost a pitcher’s duel 2-1 to the Oakland A’s. Luke Hochevar took a no-hitter in the sixth inning. He gave up RBI singles in the 6th and 7th. He only allowed five hits and two walks in seven innings. He was outpitched by former Central Missouri Mule and Sappington, Missouri native Josh Outman who allowed just four hits in seven innings.

The Royals got their run in the 8th after Alcides Escobar doubled and stole third with two outs off reliever Brian Fuentes. Escobar scored on an infield single from Alex Gordon.

Hochevar pitched pretty well. After giving up an RBI single in the 6th, the A’s had runners on first and third with one out and Hochevar got out of it, but Oakland added that run in the 7th on a single, sac bunt, and another single.
