This year’s list of Missouri’s most endangered historic places includes two bridges, three schools, a pair of churches, and a mauseoleum, 15 structures in 11 counties and the city of St. Louis in all. Six are new to the list.

The list is compiled each year by the organization Missouri Preservation to call attention to the state’s threatened historic resources. the three school buildings include one at the university in Rolla. Two more are on a separate list of “watched properties.”

The organization’s field representative, Bill Hart, says some of the buildings already are in poor condition and will cost a lot of money to save. He knows some won’t be. One of the keys to saving historic buildings is special tax credits–but several legislators want to limit that program to improve the state’s bank balance.
