Organizers of the Missouri River 340, a kayak race that runs from Kansas City to St. Louis, considered cancelling this year’s race because of flooding on the Missouri River. Instead the race will move further west…into Kansas.

The race is being moved to the Kansas River and it will be shortened down to 150 miles. It will take place July 19-22, same as the original race on the Missouri River.

A new wrinkle in this year’s race is that the Kansas, (also known as the Kaw) will have spots in the river where racers will have to carry their kayaks. The race will start in Manhattan and finish near Kansas City.
