The Highway Patrol finishes its annual inspections of thousands of school buses–and finds only a few that should not have been on the road. Missouri’s 500-plus school districts are served by more than 12,000 buses.  The Highway Patrol inspects them in February, March, and April each year.

This time, about 88-percent of the buses had no defective items.  Some others had minor defects but could still run their routes. Only 234 buses were parked until they could be repaired.  That’s less than two percent.

The statewide approval rate this year is about three-percentage points  higher than last year.   A total of 268 districts had approval ratings of 90 percent or more with no buses placed out of service.
