Royals rookie first basemen Eric Hosmer hit his first major league home run and then added a decisive sac fly in the 11th inning as the Royals beat the Yankees 4-3. With several members of his family at Yankee Stadium, Hosmer called the night, “awesome.”

Wilson Betemit hit an RBI single tying the game at 2-2 in the eighth inning for the Royals, and Jeff Francoeur drove in a run during the 10th inning to lead the way for Joakim Soria, but he gave up Curtis Granderson’s RBI single in the bottom half of the 10th to tie the game again at 3-3. Soria picked up with win after blowing his second save in eight tries this season.

Louis Coleman pitched the 11th for his first career save. The win snapped a seven game road losing streak.
