I saw tweets, facebook posts, heard from Mizzou fans, a wide range of emotions when they found out that Tyler Gabbert was transferring from Missouri. Let me put it this way to you Mizzou fans, in terms of football the only thing that Tyler has in common with his older brother Blaine is their last name.

Pollock’s Podcast on Tyler Gabbert’s decision (4:40)

I’m not criticizing the Gabbert family, but I think they tried to find a situation where perhaps the less talented Tyler could fit in and they looked at Mizzou as a place where once Blaine established himself, it might set up an opportunity where Tyler could just slide in after Blaine left.

Vahe Gregorian of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch was in contact with the father Chuck Gabbert yesterday and Chuck said this was not a knee jerk reaction. I 100% believe him. This was a calculated move. What’s interesting is the fact this was not a knee jerk reaction tells me that despite what I heard from the Mizzou coaches after the spring game, about how the quarterback job could be decided in late August, the writing was pretty much on the wall that sophomore quarterback James Franklin is going to be number one guy…not just this year, but for a long time.
