After an 0 for 2 Major League Debut Friday night that saw the Royals sell over 9,000 walk up tickets, hot hitting prospect Eric Hosmer finished his first weekend in the majors with three hits and his first RBI.

In the bottom of the sixth of the Royals’ 5-2 loss to Oakland, Hosmer pulled the Royals close with a two out double. His first extra base hit and first RBI in the bigs. Hosmer had his best day at the plate going 2 for 4.

In other Royals’ news, Jeff Francis is now 0-4 after his first eight starts since signing a free agent contract with KC. He says the ball is going where he wants it to, he just needs to focus a little more in situations where runners get on base.

Francis has been pitching better in his last two or three starts. He threw 106 pitches with 69 of them for strikes.

The Royals are still 4.5 games behind red hot Cleveland as they open a series on Tuesday at New York.
