After allowing a first inning run, Bruce Chen held the Baltimore Orioles to just three hits over his next seven innings as the Royals offense took over from there in a 9-1 win Thursday afternoon. Chen improves to 4-1 as the Royals have won five of their last six.

Chen gave up an RBI single to Adam Jones in the first inning, then the Royals hitters went to work on O’s starter Chris Tillman as he was charged with all eight runs on 10 hits in 3.2 innings. Melky Cabrera led the offense with four RBIs while going 3 for 4.
