Missouri defensive end Aldon Smith was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers with the 7th overall pick. So many mock drafts had Blaine Gabbert going to SF.

Group wants KC priests investigated for sex crimes

A group that advocates for victims of sexual abuse by priests wants a Jackson County grand jury to investigate sex crimes by priests in the Kansas City-St. Joseph diocese…and cover-ups of the incidents by the diocese.

The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests says 80 people claim to have been abused by 18 current and former priests in the diocese, nobody has been prosecuted.

An assistant prosecutor says he’ll discuss the issue with the organization soon.

River traps homeless in St. Louis



Five homeless people who have found themselves on the wrong side of the St. Louis flood wall, with the Mississippi River rising in front of them have been rescued by St. Louis firefighters. They were on a strip of dry land in the area where the remnants of the Admiral riverboat are docked.

CenturyLink buying St. Louis-based Savvis Inc.

One of Missouri’s most prominent high-tech companies is being sold to one of the nation’s biggest telecommunications companies. Savvis Incorporated of Town and Country is being bought by CenturyLink, based in Louisiana, for $2.5 billion dollars. CenturyLink is the third largest telecommunications company in the nation. Century Link is paying a 22 percent premium for Savvis stock.

Evacuation order at Birds Point levee

The sheriff of Mississippi County has ordered everybody in the spillway of the Birds Point-New Madrid Floodway to move out. About 300 people live in the 100 homes in that area. A spokesman says people who don’t leave voluntarily will be removed.      

The sheriff says those people are going to deal with floodwater whether the Birds Point levee is blown apart by the Corps of Engineers this weekend or whether it’s overtopped by the Mississippi River.
