Lance Berkman went 4-for-5 with a homer from each side of the plate and five RBIs, and the Cardinals erupted for a nine-run sixth to beat the Astros 11-7. Berkman went 8-for-14 against his former team in the series.

The Cardinals’ nine run, 10 hit outburst in the sixth, which gave them a 10-4 lead, was their biggest inning since scoring 10 runs on 10 hits on Aug. 6, 2007, against San Diego. Four different Astros pitchers took the mound in the sixth.

Astros third basemen Chris Johnson hit a two-run homer in the second inning to give the Astros a 2-0 lead, and Pence drove in a run in the third with a single to make it 3-0. Carlos Lee broke an 0-for-17 slump with an RBI double in the fifth to put the Astros ahead, 4-1. It was all Cardinals from there.
