The sale of Girl Scout cookies has become the centerpiece of a lawsuit against the city of Hazelwood.

The city last month had warned Carolyn Mills that her daughters were violating city codes by operating a cookie sales stand in the driveway of their home. The lawyer for Mills and her daughters says the family thinks the constitution protects their rights to use their property in harmless ways — and selling cookies is about as harmless as you can get.
