The senate has agreed to extend unemployment benefits for jobless Missourians for another 20 weeks, but will be pulling 250 million dollars from the supplemental appropriations bill. Four Republican senators had blocked the federal money for unemployment to send a message to Washington about overspending. After speaking with the Governor and Senate leadership, they decided to compromise and let that money go through if it could be pulled from somewhere else.
