A Columbia man who once did 18 years in prison for murder might be headed back to prison for another parole violation. The Highway Patrol has picked up John R. Abercrombie for drunk driving.

Abercrombie was released from prison on the murder conviction in 1982 but was sent back in 1985 for a parole violation. He was released in 1987 and sent back on a second parole violation two years later. Until his DWI arrest Sunday, he had stayed out of trouble since he was released from prison in 2003.
