The regular season opens on Thursday and the Cardinals made their final decisions on Monday as the team prepares to head north.

Fernando Salas, who pitched in Monday’s 4-1 loss to Florida, was one of the last cuts as he was told he is headed to Memphis to start the year at AAA. Salas gave up just one run and four hits in 12.1 spring training innings, but manager Tony LaRussas said he’s looking at pitchers who can give multiple innings.

The final position player slots went to Daniel Descalso and Allen Craig who can play the outfield and first base.
