Jaime Garcia continues to look at the positives and try to not focus on the negatives, but after awhile, saying this is just spring training will only get you so far. At some point, he has to start pinpointing his pitches.

Garcia gave up a two run homer to Mets’ third basemen David Wright and then made it to the fourth inning when the wheels came off. After a lead-off double and a sac fly, the score was tied at 3-3 with two outs.

Garcia gave up two singles around a Skip Schumaker error which should have gotten him out of the inning, but he gave up a three run homer to Angel Pagan. Then, three more singles, a double and another single kept the inning alive and if it wasn’t for Matt Holliday throwing a runner out at the plate, the Mets still might be batting.

LaRussa and Garcia comments on this spring

Tony LaRussa tried to put his positive spin on it as well as Garcia who now has a spring ERA 7.94 in 17 spring innings.
