Bruce Chen, the Royals fourth starter had a hiccup in the fourth inning, but manager Ned Yost was unable to reach his goal of having Chen throw 90 pitches as the lefty made it through six innings on just 72 in a 9-8 win over Seattle.

Chen says that he is happy with all of his pitches and is ready for the season to start. He said he threw a lot of off speed pitches to Seattle in the first three innings, but they made adjustments in a four run, fourth inning. Chen credited Brayan Pena for changing the approach and Chen finished up the next two innings with no more damage.

The Royals hit three homers in the game, including Alex Gordon’s fourth of the spring. He is hitting .340 and has 16 RBIs. Melky Cabrera went deep and drove in three runs.
