The Missouri Tigers were handed a 78-63 loss by the sixth seeded Cincinnati Bearcats in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Thursday night in Washington D.C.

The Tigers were dominated inside by Yancy Gates who finished with a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds. Laurence Bowers finished with 12 points and Ricardo Ratliffe added 11 points, but picked up his fourth foul with over nine minutes left.

Cincy used a strong defense to hold the Tigers to 29 percent shooting in the first half and 38 percent for the game. Missouri went a stretch over just over 11 minutes without scoring a field goal to fall behind by 15 early in the second half and finished well below their average of 81.4 points per game.
