Longtime St. Louis political power figure Francis R. Slay has died. He was the father of the current mayor, a former state representative for two terms, was elected the St. Louis Recorder of Deeds twice and was an influential Democratic ward committeeman for more than 40 years.
Slay is survived by his wife and their 11 children. He was 83.
