Buchanan County Sheriff Mike Strong says a joint investigation with the DEA led to conspiracy charges against nine suspects. The investigation involved more than $1 million worth of illegal drugs, including methamphetamine and heroin.

According to a federal indictment, nine co-defendants are charged with conspiracy to distribute meth and conspiracy to commit money laundering.  Three suspects are also charged with conspiracy to distribute heroin.  The alleged ringleader also faces two firearms charges.

A grand jury returned the indictment March 1st, and it was unsealed March 4th after the suspects were arrested.
