Former Washington County jail officer Valeria Jackson cannot leave her home for six months, and then will spend the next four and a half years on probation for misleading a federal agent in a jail investigation.

Jackson has admitting lying to an FBI agent about placing an inmate hat she said had annoyed her into a cell with a known violent inmate — and encouraged that inmate to be the annoying prisoner. The inmate she put in the cell suffered what prosecutors call “significant injuries.”

Jackson testified last week at her father’s trial on four civil rights violations. Her father faces 50 years in prison for similar improper treatment of inmates.
