A prosecutor whose father was a policeman killed in the line of duty wants the death penalty for a man whose trial is about to start in Clayton. The jury is being picked for the trial of Todd Shepard, who’s accused of walking up to the squad car of University City police sergeant Michael King in 2008 and shooting him to death. King was a 25-year veteran of the police force and had no apparent connection to Shepard before the incident.

The trial is to start Monday, is scheduled to take all week, and have a sequestered jury.
